Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced SAP Finance Functional Analyst / Project Manager to support a finance-focused SAP engagement for a client based in Stamford, CT. This role requires a consultant with strong SAP Finance functional knowledge, the ability to work closely with business and technology stakeholders, and the flexibility to be based onsite in Stamford, CT for an initial period of the engagement.
The ideal candidate will have experience gathering finance requirements, analyzing current-state processes, supporting SAP configuration and enhancement work, coordinating delivery activities, and helping drive project execution across finance, operations, and technology teams. Depending on the candidate’s background, the role may lean more toward hands-on functional analysis or project management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Partner with finance, operations, technology, and business stakeholders to understand current-state SAP Finance processes, pain points, requirements, and project priorities.
• Support SAP Finance-related analysis across areas such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Controlling, cost/profit centers, banking, treasury, close processes, and reporting.
• Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications, process flows, configuration requirements, test scenarios, and delivery documentation.
• Work with SAP technical teams, integration teams, and third-party partners to support solution design, configuration, enhancement delivery, testing, and deployment.
• Help assess gaps between current-state processes and target-state SAP capabilities, identifying risks, dependencies, and remediation actions.
• Support finance transformation, process improvement, system enhancement, or SAP implementation activities as required.
• Coordinate project activities, timelines, RAID items, status reporting, stakeholder communications, and delivery governance where project management support is needed.
• Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, testing meetings, and stakeholder reviews with business and technical teams.
• Support test planning, UAT coordination, defect tracking, issue resolution, and business readiness activities.
• Ensure documentation is clear, structured, and suitable for business approval, technology delivery, audit, and future operational support.
• Provide hands-on support during key project phases, including design, build, testing, cutover, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Maintain strong onsite presence in Stamford, CT during the required period of the engagement.
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years of experience as an SAP Functional Analyst, SAP Finance Consultant, SAP Finance Business Analyst, or SAP Project Manager.
• Hands-on experience with SAP Finance processes and modules, including SAP FI and/or CO.
• Experience working with finance stakeholders to gather requirements, document processes, define functional specifications, and support SAP delivery.
• Strong understanding of core finance processes such as GL, AP, AR, month-end close, reporting, cost centers, profit centers, and financial controls.
• Experience supporting SAP projects, enhancements, upgrades, implementations, integrations, or finance transformation initiatives.
• Ability to bridge business and technology teams, translating finance needs into practical SAP solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate in a client-facing consulting environment with minimal supervision.
• Willingness and ability to be onsite in Stamford, CT for an initial period of the engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance.
• Experience in commodities, logistics, shipping, trading, energy, natural resources, or asset-intensive industries.
• Experience supporting treasury, cash management, banking, intercompany, tax, procurement, or supply chain integrations with SAP Finance.
• Experience managing project workstreams, status reporting, RAID logs, delivery plans, testing cycles, and cutover readiness.
• Familiarity with SAP reporting, data migration, master data, interfaces, and finance controls.
• Experience working with offshore or distributed delivery teams.
• PMP, SAP certification, Agile, or other relevant project/delivery certifications are a plus.
**The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $180,000, with flexibility for exceptional candidates**
