What you'll build
Own the end-to-end architecture for AI features in SAP Procurement, from discovery and design to pilot and scale
Translate business goals into AI solutions on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP):
Use SAP Generative AI Hub and SAP AI Core for model orchestration and lifecycle
Apply SAP AI Business Services where fit-for-purpose (e.g., Document Information Extraction)
Employ SAP HANA Cloud (including vector capabilities) and SAP Datasphere for retrieval and analytics
Integrate via SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management) and Event Mesh
Build extensions with CAP/RAP, and design user experiences with SAP Fiori/UI5 or SAP Build; align with Joule for copilot experiences
Integrate seamlessly with SAP Procurement products:
S/4HANA Sourcing & Procurement: CDS/OData, BAdIs, events, RAP extensions, Central Procurement
Ariba: Open APIs, Guided Buying extensibility, Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG), Ariba Network
Fieldglass: REST APIs and connectors for contingent workforce and services procurement scenarios
Lead customer workshops and solution reviews; shape roadmaps, statements of work, and delivery plans
Establish AI engineering excellence: RAG patterns grounded in procurement data, prompt design and evaluation, CI/CD for models and prompts, A/B testing, observability, drift detection
Build-in trust by design, aligned with SAP's Business AI principles (relevant, reliable, responsible): guardrails, human-in-the-loop, auditability, data privacy, and security
Regional compliance and data residency (role expectations)
Cross-team responsibilities
Partner with Legal, Security, and Privacy to design region-compliant data flows, complete DPIAs, and maintain records of processing
Select SAP BTP subaccount regions and hyperscaler endpoints to meet customer data residency needs; ensure logs, vector stores, caches, and backups follow the same residency
Enforce cross-border transfer controls (e.g., SCCs/IDTA, transfer risk assessments), data minimization, pseudonymization, and encryption
Ensure Business AI guardrails: no training of foundation models on customer data, strict tenant isolation, reproducible decisions, and audit trails
Configure retention and right-to-erasure workflows for PII and commercial data (supplier contacts, invoices, contracts, RFx)
EU/EEA
GDPR compliance by design (lawful basis, purpose limitation, DPIA when required); support EU-only processing and storage when mandated
Apply EU Standard Contractual Clauses for any transfers; prepare for EU AI Act documentation and risk management for relevant use cases
UK
UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018; use the UK IDTA or UK addendum to SCCs where applicable; accommodate UK-only hosting when required
United States
Comply with CCPA/CPRA and emerging state privacy laws; support US data residency for commercial and public-sector customers For public sector engagements, design to align with FedRAMP/StateRAMP patterns when required (e.g., segregated environments, restricted integrations)
Canada
PIPEDA and provincial requirements (e.g., Quebec Law 25); accommodate in-country processing preferences and enhanced consent/DSAR workflows
APJ
Australia Privacy Act; support IRAP-aligned patterns for public sector when needed
Singapore PDPA; Japan APPI; India DPDP Act-enable in-country hosting options and explicit consent/notice and cross-border safeguards
Middle East
UAE PDPL, KSA PDPL, and other GCC privacy laws; design for in-country processing where mandated and align with sovereign cloud requirements when applicable
Latin America
