SAP Transportation Management (TM) Manager – Techno-Functional Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP Transportation Management (TM) Manager to lead the design, implementation, enhancement, and support of enterprise transportation management solutions. This role requires a strong techno-functional leader with deep expertise in SAP Transportation Management (TM), proven experience leading full lifecycle implementations, and the ability to partner closely with business stakeholders to translate transportation and logistics requirements into scalable SAP solutions.
The ideal candidate will come from a corporate enterprise environment and possess a blend of functional transportation management expertise, technical solution knowledge, leadership capabilities, and program delivery experience. This individual will serve as the primary liaison between business teams, IT leadership, system integrators, and global onshore/offshore delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
SAP TM Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the overall SAP Transportation Management (TM) application roadmap, strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for SAP TM and transportation-related business processes.
- Provide leadership for transportation transformation initiatives and enterprise logistics programs.
- Drive best practices, governance standards, and solution architecture recommendations.
Business Partnership & Requirements Management
- Partner closely with Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, and Finance stakeholders to understand business needs and priorities.
- Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and requirements gathering activities.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical solution designs.
- Create and maintain business process documentation, functional specifications, process flows, and solution documentation.
SAP TM Implementation & Delivery
- Lead full lifecycle SAP TM implementations including:
- Requirements gathering
- Solution design
- Configuration
- Development oversight
- Testing
- Deployment
- Hypercare support
- Manage transportation transformation projects from initiation through production support.
- Drive successful execution of SAP TM enhancements, upgrades, and integration initiatives.
Techno-Functional Solution Management
- Provide hands-on guidance for SAP TM configuration and solution design.
- Collaborate with technical teams on custom developments, interfaces, integrations, reports, enhancements, and data migration activities.
- Support integration efforts with:
- SAP S/4HANA
- SAP EWM
- SAP ERP
- SAP Logistics Execution
- Carrier systems
- Third-party transportation platforms
- Freight management systems
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor onshore and offshore SAP TM teams.
- Coordinate activities across internal resources, consulting partners, and system integrators.
- Manage project plans, resource allocation, risk mitigation, issue resolution, and delivery timelines.
- Establish delivery standards and quality assurance processes.
Testing & Support
- Oversee system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and production validation activities.
- Ensure successful cutover planning and go-live execution.
- Support production issue resolution and continuous improvement efforts.
- Drive root cause analysis and long-term solution development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of SAP experience with significant focus on SAP Transportation Management (TM).
- 5+ years of leadership or management experience leading SAP TM teams and initiatives.
- Multiple full lifecycle SAP TM implementation experiences.
- Strong understanding of transportation, logistics, freight management, carrier management, and supply chain processes.
- Experience leading global onshore and offshore delivery teams.
- Proven experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements.
- Experience creating:
- Functional specifications
- Business requirements documents (BRDs)
- Process flows
- Solution designs
- Test plans
- Training documentation
- Strong understanding of SAP implementation methodologies and SDLC processes.
- Experience managing third-party consulting partners and system integrators.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management.
- Experience with embedded TM and advanced transportation planning capabilities.
- Knowledge of:

- Experience in large-scale corporate transportation environments.
- SAP TM certification preferred.
- Experience with Agile and hybrid project delivery methodologies.
