Position title: SAP iXp Intern - AI Scientist
Location: Palo Alto, CA

As an AI Scientist Intern, you will be working on strategic SAP topics that helps in SAP’s vision to embed Artificial Intelligence into SAP Enterprise Applications like S/4 HANA, SuccessFactors etc. As a member of Business AI Unit at SAP, you will have the opportunity to work in any of machine learning tasks like building foundation models for enterprise, work with large language models including fine tuning models, knowledge graphs, Natural Language Query processing with enterprise context or general NLP tasks. For this position, you will be working on generative AI foundations team and work on Agentic AI topics and fine tuning LLMs for enterprise needs.
You will be working in the heart of Silicon Valley and be part of a vibrant intern community on the SAP Palo Alto campus (monthly events, regular community lunches, networking sessions, expert presentations). We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in a related field. Graduating Seniors/2nd Year Masters highly desirable.
- - Preferred Concentrations: Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
- Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled, or recently graduated (start date must be within 6 months of graduation date) from a coding academy/bootcamp, apprenticeship, associate, bachelor’s, master’s or JD/PhD program
- Experience with Python, with an emphasis on data-science and machine-learning related libraries (Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Numpy, TensorFlow or PyTorch), LLM framework like LangChain/LangGraph, CrewAI etc
- Nice to have exposure to TensorBoard, MLFlow or pipeline frameworks , Agentic Framework, Graph ML, PyTorch or ML Framework
- Work with state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models especially fine tuning foundation models
- Identify additional challenges and document how we might overcome them
- Excellent knowledge in popular modern machine learning algorithms
- Great mathematical skills.Strong enthusiasm and interest in new technologies and business models of the next generation
